I might have a crush on Derek Halpern.
Now, I’ll admit, he’s not for everyone. He’s a little brash, maybe even rude, but there’s no ambiguity in him, and I like that. Plus he’s got some serious marketing chops.
The other day I found an ebook he’s offering titled, “How to Get Your First 5,000 Subscribers.” While a lot of the ideas he writes about aren’t a fit for most service providers, there is an exercise on page 9 that is.
If you’ve ever struggled with the “ideal client” dilemma, or found yourself doing work you hate for people you don’t care about, the 4 questions Derek asks will give you some much needed clarity. I’m not going to post them here because you do need to read them in context, but I will share what came up for me:
I help servicepreneurs build confidence and learn better marketing strategies so they can land (and keep) higher quality and better paying clients, make more money, and love their business again.
That, in a nutshell, is exactly what this blog is about, so it was well worth my time (and my email address).
Let me know in the comments if you pick up a copy, and what you come up with when you do this exercise.
