How I Organize and Manage My Active Campaign Account

It won’t surprise anyone to hear that I am a big fan of Active Campaign. I think it’s absolutely the best value in email marketing systems today. It has all the power of the big systems like Infusionsoft and Ontraport, with pricing that’s more in line with AWeber.

One of the things I really like about Active Campaign is the automations. An automation is a sequence of events that happens to a contact on a pre-determined schedule. That might include:

  • Sending an email or text message
  • Adding or removing a tag
  • Moving to another automation
  • Unsubscribing from a list
  • Notifying someone of something (like a purchase or an email open)

I primarily use automations to send a series of follow-up emails after an opt-in or a purchase. I want my new subscribers and customers to get to know me better, learn about what’s happening in my business and life, and — yes — I want them to buy the products or programs that will help their business grow.

Aside from follow-up or funnel emails, I also like to send time-sensitive broadcast emails out several times each week. I don’t want people to get two emails in one day, which can happen if they’re already in an automation, so I use tags to prevent that. Watch the video below for how I make that happen, as well as an overview of how I have my account set up.
